After some experimentation in the remains of the tomb to ensure there are no more traps, the party opens the sarcophagus. The casket itself bears an engraving of a tall women with pointed ears, in repose, and etched into it are the words “Here lays the Demon Hunter”. Inside they find a desecrated body, and four pristine items. Taking some time to attune to them, the group catalogue a Sentinel Tiara, a Breastplate of Reflexes, a Greatsword of Repeating and an Imp's Skull of Grease Stain.
This done, they turn to the problem of escape. After some puzzlement they deduce that the stairs can be returned to normal if enough weight is left on the dias where the living statue had been standing. Unwilling to leave anything behind, they instead task Chae-rin with the job of reconstructing the statue using Mending. This takes Chae-rin quite a while, though this is extended somewhat by her being imaginative with her creation. When the final piece of the statue is readded (let's not think about where) the dias clicks downwards, and the stairs re-emerge.
As the group reach the top they discover the Yugs they'd left behind kowtowing to Suna and Kana, who had been tracking the group across the jungle through a combination of animal forms and good old tracking. The Yugs claim that the rocks appeared as part of the trap, but Kana and Suna's observations, and the Yugs poor lying, gives them away. The Yugs are taken captive, and the group retreats to their forward base to rest.
Overnight they consult Shava regarding what to do with the Yugs. She says that having one live Yug would be useful but to dispose of the rest, so whilst Wei sleeps the rest are led round the back of a tent and butchered by Sassani and Kathra.
The next morning Mana Ravi arrives to collect the remaining Yug, whilst Wei mourns the loss of the others. The group then begins the work of attacking the remaining Yug encampment. They move back around the valley to their chosen point and begin burying the explosives they had salvaged from Sanua Tikthu's bombers. This complete, they assume their positions and send a illusion of Chae-rin into the camp to get the Yugs attention. Chae-rin is perfectly insulting, and the duplicate is quickly on the run back through the minefield with the entire camp in tow.
The plan works perfectly, with the Yugs and Yuggernauts herded into a narrow kill-zone full of explosives. Suna calls forth a wall of fire to stagger the attack and direct the Yugs, and with the might of the group's ranged arsenal bought to bear the massacre starts. The Yuggernauts almost break the line as they leap towards the group's casters, forcing a scramble to defend, but they are able to cut down most of the attackers before they can pass out of the valley.
With the almost-thirty assailants dead, the group then almost blows itself up trying to disarm the one remaining explosive that hadn't been detonated.
This done, they head through the Yug camp. Just before entering the cave, the group spotted a Yug vanishing into the entrance. Sassani Dimension Door'd to the creature and killed it before it could raise a further alarm. Heading inside, to their surprise they discover six female Yugs cowering behind some crates, along with ramshackle blacksmith's and alchemist's stations. On realising that they can communicate with Wei the Yugs plead for their lives, saying they just wanted to be left alone to continue with their work. Despite Wei once again feeling sympathy for their plight, the rest of the group are not swayed. The Yugs are instructed to reveal the details of their journeys through the caves, then forcefully informed that they will be accompanying the group on the return journey. They are not thrilled by the idea, but when introduced to death as the alternative, and promised protection, they grudgingly agree.
The Yugs outline the trip they took, including such wonderful sights as: A giant cliff, on which they were attacked both on the descent and at the base by flying predators; friendly fungi, unfriendly fungi, a great empty wasteland, a giant lake, and many, many spiders. The group dwell on this information for a while, then head deeper into the cave.
