Backstory

Suna’s family lived next to a small village far from the city. Her parents had moved there for a more peaceful life and supplied the village with candles and torches. They specialised in candles that could burn coloured flames and were a local novelty, bSunaging in business from other areas.

One night shortly before Suna’s 13th birthday some men broke into their home. Suna found one of them in the kitchen as she went to get some water in the night. He tried to catch her and knocked the candle from her hands, sending it tumbling out of sight. Suna was terrified and instinctually she began to push him away with more than just her hands, tendrils of flame enveloped the man and he howled in terror. Another man burst into the room, lingeSunag just long enough for Suna to see he had one white eye before running. Suna’s vision went red. When she next awoke she was surrounded by the blackened ruins of her home, no trace of a living soul remained, neither the man or her beloved parents. In a blur Suna raced to the village. Making it to the square she collapsed and, inconsolable, was taken to the nearest house while the villagers sought out her ruined home. When asked about the devastation Suna could only reply ‘It was me…’. She could feel the magic within now and was both terrified and fascinated by it. She raged at the those who had brought this terrible power forth and vowed that she would find the man with the white eye.

Sometime later news of the event had travelled to the local clan leader, he was intrigued and sent for the girl hoping to confirm a suspicion. Before the Clansmen Suna was forced to show her power and through several years of harsh tutelage she learned how to control her magic. In the wake of the Emperors death the clan leader, who was now sure of her ancient lineage, hoped to use her in his bid for power.

Never did Suna forget about the man with the white eye and so when she was old enough to sneak from her gilded prison she made her escape. Never again would her life be controlled by another so fiercely. Suna owed no fealty to the clansman who had taken her from her village and turned her into a mere tool of war.

Now she has made her way to Shava Dehu and her gang, The Butterflies. Here she hopes to have the freedom to find what she is looking for while also paying back the clan leader for his mistreatment.
